members of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria held procession to condemn illegal detention of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Zakzaky. The protesters go round Bauchi metropolis to hold rally and procession to call on the Nigerian government to obey it's court order to immediately release the IMN leader. 600 DAYS IN ILLEGAL DETENTION: OUR CALL IS UNEQUIVOCAL AGAINST CONTINUED DETENTION OF SHEIKH ZAKZAKY, OUR RESOLVE UNWAVERING!

Today marks exactly 600 days since the illegal detention of our revered Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky despite a valid court order for his release. We continue to strongly voice our opposition to the lame excuses forwarded by the government for his continued incarceration, especially the most irrational of all - that of the so-called ‘protective custody’.

The Education Committee of the Islamic Movement, popularly known in Hausa as Lajnar Tarbiyyah da Ilmantarwa, was established and mandated by Sheikh el-Zakzaky (H), to oversee the educational and related activities within the Movement. To its credit were various multifaceted symposia and capacity building programmes meant to improve the socio-economic well being of the society.
