The Chief Imam and Abuja Branch Missioner of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Alhaji Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan has urged the Federal Government to immediately release the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as the Shiite sect Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife in the interest of peace and justice.

He gave the advice on Friday in Abuja when he led a delegation to the corporate headquarters of Media Trust to appreciate the translations of the weekly Friday Khutbah (sermons) in the Aminiya title of Daily Trust newspapers.

He said the government should carry out a holistic research on the activities of the group and what they want to achieve to be able to understand and properly act on relating with the sect. Source DailyTrust

“All matters can be resolves peacefully. He (El-Zakzaky) should be released especially that a court has gave a judgement on that. We don’t want an untoward happening over his detention,” Aliagan said.

He also said despite the efforts of the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Nigerian Muslims are yet to be united as expected as some common challenges that should have been resolved long ago still subsist.

He therefore urged Muslims to be united and shun sectarianism as mandated by Allah.
