Mu'assasatu Abul Fadl Abbas/Academic Forum staged Free Zakzaky peaceful protest
Sheikh Zakzaky needs access to Specialist Opthalmologist in a well equipped facility
It is exactly 428 days today since the Nigerian Army lunched a coordinated massacre on the members of Islamic Movement under the guardianship of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, in Zaria- The #ZariaMassacre .
As a result of the brutal attack on Sheikh Zakzaky and Muslim brothers and sisters of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria:
-Over a thousand of innocent Nigerian citizens were brutally killed
-Many tertiary institution students were massacred and dumped in a mass grave while others are still held under illegal detention.
-Two students have died in detention
-Many were burnt to death
-Hundreds were hospitalised with various degrees of injuries
- Three hundred and forty seven that included women and children were dumped in a single mass grave in Mando, Kaduna.
Sheikh Zakzaky, who lost six children, sister and a nephew in the hands of the Nigerian Army in less than eighteen months was shot several times together with his wife and abducted by the Nigerian Army and later , handed over to the DSS with no proper medical care.
It is a glaring fact that murder , massacre , unjust imprisonment or detention, rape and torture are all crimes against humanity in a Democratic System that our dear country subscribed to.
According to a report from some family members of Shaikh Zakzaky, the condition of the eye of the revered Shaikh is currently degenerating into a non favourable situation.
It could be recalled that on the second of December , 2016 , Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the federal high court sitting in Abuja ordered the immediate release of Shaikh Zakzaky and his wife unconditionally. Continuous Detention of Shaikh Zakzaky remains illegal, unconstitutional and an infringement on his right.
People are aware that #ZariaMassacre was indeed a grand annihilation agenda targeted against the Islamic movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Shaikh Zakzaky. The entire world witnessed a barbaric act that remained one of the most heinous killings orchestrated by the state owned army against defenceless citizens in Nigeria.
We are deeply worried about the present health condition of Shaikh Zakzaky, holding him hostage is a clear violation of court order as well as his basic right and therefore unacceptable.
We are calling on the acting President of our country Nigeria, a legal luminary, professor Yemi Osinbajo to release Shaikh Zakzaky and other innocent Nigerians, Immediately and unconditionally.
It is mandatory for the National Human Right Commission (NHRC) to mount pressure on the Federal Government to Obey Court and release Shaikh Zakzaky.
