Massive Free Zakzaky Peaceful Protest Across Nigerian Cities
Massive protest march organized by the IMN took place in many cities and towns in Nigeria on Sunday, September 17, 2017 calling for the Nigerian government to obey court order and unconditionally release its leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H). Some of the notable cities where the protest march calling for the release of Sheikh Zakzaky (H) was held include Zaria, Katsina, Jalingo, Potiskum, Bauchi, Kano, Azare, Sokoto, Talatan Mafara, Daura, Jibia etc. Protesters holding different placards, banners called for the immediate release of Sheikh Zakzaky (H) and his followers held since after Zaria December 2015 massacre with about 1000 missing while plying some major streets within the cities. Some of protesters reiterated that they have not forgotten the atrocities of the Nigerian military killing, burning alive annihilating peaceful armless peaceful and law abiding followers of Sheikh Zakzaky (H) including children below three years. In Kano city after the protest march, Mal Sunusi AbdulKadir called for the immediate release of Sheikh Zakzaky (H) who has been held unjustly and a Federal High court in Abuja presided by Justice Kolawale since December, 2016 has passed a judgment for his immediate release and his wife Malama Zenatuddeen Ibraheem and payment of compensation. He also called for the government of Kano state to hand over the bodies of peaceful members of IMN that were massacred during 2016 Annual Arbaeen Trek in Kano. Some protesters interviewed reiterated that they stand by its leader and will never relent on calling for his release and continue with all their religious duties and activities.
