Free Zakzaky peaceful protest held in Yabo, Sokoto State, Nigeria

Hundreds of brothers and sisters across Yabo local government and the neighbouring towns of Sanyinna and Gamgam yesterday staged a FreeZakzaky protest after Juma'at prayers. Protesters held placards and posters with various inscriptions calling on the federal government of Nigeria to immediately #FreeZakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria who was held without any charges since December 2015. The leader of IMN in Yabo, Mal. Ahmad Marafa while briefing the crowd and general public recalled that Sheikh Zakzaky's house was raided by the Nigerian armies who are the instrument of federal government following an alleged "road blockage". That the armies killed 1000+ unarmed brothers and sisters who are law abiding Nigerian citizen including three biological sons of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. Both Sheikh and his wife Malama Zeenatuldeen were severely wounded with multiple round of bullets before being abducted and placed on solitary detection. He added that even after a judgment by federal high court in favour of releasing Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife as well as paying them compensations and building a befitting abode, the federal government under the leadership of president Muhammad Buhari has refused to release the sheik and his wife. A clear evidence for the contempt of law and a deviance against the Nigerian constitutions. Mal Ahmad urged the government to as a matter of urgency release Sheikh Zakzaky who is presently facing a deteriorating health conditions including the risk of loosing sights as a result of deliberate neglect by the government holding him to custody. He also call on public and all people of conscience to join hands in the struggle against continued illegal detection of Sheikh Zakzaky, as oppression to one is an oppression to all. A prayer session was held for Allah to grant good health and continue to protect Sheikh Zakzaky. The procession ended peacefully and many people expressed concern and showed sympathy.
