On 19th Jimada-thani,1435 (19/4/2014) which is the second day in the ongoing Zahra (AS) birth day commemoration organized by the Islamic movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky (H) holding at Hussainiyya Baqiyatullah Zaria, marital issues and family matters were discussed, where the participants, where the participants mention some of the major problems and suggest for a possible solution to them.
The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky (H) said the Sharia, which covers rights and responsibilities of both man and woman as equal before God, is for the benefit of mankind. He pointed out that, the rights and responsibilities of both man and woman are equal, though their responsibilities differ in accordance with his or her nature, and that the rights are balanced with both complementing each other. Even though men are a degree above women, as the Holy Qur’an decreed, and that the Infallible Imams translated this as the Right of Divorce that is exclusively for men.
Sheikh Zakzaky (H) also pointed out that by nature women are weak, and through God’s wisdom this weakness is for peaceful coexistence with their spouse. “Among all God’s creature, human is considered the best because he is given freedom of choice and desire. For this Allah instituted Sharia as guidance to man.
There exist today fragments of ways of Jahiliyya in the conduct of marital affairs among people where women were degraded and restricted to domestic work only. “Such culture still exists today, rights of Women are trampled upon at will and divorce has become rampant in an unacceptable manner that contradicts Sharia”, said Sheikh Zakzaky.
He finally called on people to fear Allah and be just in the conduct of marital affairs, saying everyone will be judged according to his deeds. “Each one of us must be a model for others to copy. Man, in his action, speech and behavior, display his personality, and this will reflect his true form on the Day of Judgment”, he added. As such family issues should not be regarded as a simple matter.
Others that spoke at the event include Malam Muhammad Abbare, Malam Kabir Malumfashi, Malama Maimuna Hussain, Malama Maryam Sani Gashua and Malama Zeenatuddeen Ibrahim.
